After moving to Kentucky in 2013, Tess graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Kentucky and has since built a career in the Kentucky Thoroughbred industry. She currently serves as Manager of Racing Services at Equibase, where she manages data collection operations across more than 60 racetracks nationwide. Previously, Tess worked for a number of other nationally recognized racing organizations, managing social media properties and launching fan education initiatives.
As a longtime Lexington resident, Tess has seen firsthand how opportunity is unevenly distributed across the city. She strongly believes in policies that promote housing affordability, public transportation, food access, and services for unhoused residents, particularly in historically overlooked north-side neighborhoods.
In her free time, Tess enjoys spending time with her wife and their animals, including dogs, cats, and chickens. She also loves being outdoors and exploring Kentucky’s state parks.
