Melissa Carol Howard

An attorney in an all-female law firm in Eastern Kentucky, Melissa Howard is the daughter of Douglas and Glenna Howard, with roots running deep in Breathitt County being related to the Howard, Brewer, Jett, Gross, and Turner families. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Eastern Kentucky University in 1998 with a B.A. in Paralegal Studies and of the UK College of Law, she served on the Kentucky Law Journal before graduating in 2001 in the Order of the Coif, reserved for the top 10% of the class. She is now in partnership with her sister, also an attorney. As an active member of the community, Ms. Howard is a member of the local Democratic Women’s Club, a former President of the high school band boosters, and a member of the Entertainment Committee for the Honey Festival. She has donated to the area’s foster children, the high school band, and the area’s animal shelters. She most recently organized a toy donation drive for victims of the tornado in Western Kentucky, following the directives of Kentucky’s First Lady. In her free time, she enjoys her dogs, genealogy, and UK basketball.
