Read moreJohnalma Barnett is a lifelong Warren County resident and dedicated community organizer, who prioritizes service above all else. Recently retired from a 35 year long career at Western Kentucky University, Johnalma supported numerous critical functions as Shipping & Receiving Manager, while also mentoring a host of students who went on to become successful community leaders and public servants. During her career, Johnalma also held a host of volunteer positions, which have extended beyond her retirement. These positions include Founder, Warren Co. African American Democratic Society for Women; Coordinator of Feeding America Bowling Green, Member of the State Coordinating team for The Poor Peoples Campagne, Member of Kentuckian’s for the Commonwealth, Executive Board Committee Member of the Warren County, KY Democratic Party, and Member of Gamechangers, a local initiative designed to promote employment opportunities for underrepresented populations. She has received numerous honors for her service to the community, including the Trailblazer Award, and volunteered with many successful campaigns at various levels of government. Johnalma also has recognition as a WNKY Hidden Hero and is a Kentucky Colonel. Politically active, Johnalma is married to Charles Barnett; they have a daughter, Kendra. Johnalma is a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
