Read moreIman’s Muslim and Kentucky roots are key drivers behind her advocacy work. She continues to promote causes that not only provide a safer and sustainable atmosphere but serve as a catalyst for a moral society. Her background centers around the importance of justice and equality. In her time at the University of Kentucky, she devoted herself to learning about the struggles of marginalized communities and served as the vice chair for the Operation and Evaluations committee of the Student Government Association and was an active member of the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma. Iman additionally has a vested interest in uplifting voices of those who have historically been silenced which is why she pursued a master’s degree from Harvard University which allowed her to further broaden her knowledge of public policy and government. She has most recently been accepted into the Vanderbilt Divinity School where she is a candidate to receive a Master’s in Theological Studies with an emphasis on Economic Justice, Near East Studies, and Global Health. Iman is thrilled to be a part of the upcoming Emerge Kentucky class, and looks forward to bringing the stories of her Eastern Kentucky community and bringing back what she learns so there can be a continued cycle of strong representation from the “606”.
