Her passion for education extends beyond the classroom. She serves as a building representative and is on the Board of Directors of the Jefferson County Teachers Association. She is the founder and sponsor of the Ballard Explorers International Travel Club, providing yearly opportunities for students to travel internationally teaching them global citizenship while expanding their world view and developing an appreciation for other cultures. In this role, she was promoted to Global Education Ambassador for EF Tours, where she mentors and trains teachers around the world on strategies to successfully lead international educational tours. She is a contributing writer for Equator, a professional blog for teachers planning international student travel.
In her free time, Erica paints, volunteers as an Ambassador with the KY Humane Society, plays competitive trivia, explores the KY Bourbon Trail, and spends time with her Zeta Tau Alpha sorority sisters or her 3-year-old niece, Emma. Erica is a Kentucky Colonel, a former Mrs. Kentucky, and a trained judge and coach for the Miss America organization. She grew up on a cattle farm in Oldham County and was once an accomplished dancer, singer, and musician.
