Read moreEmily Fleitz is a Louisville resident originally from Dayton, Ohio, and currently serves as a Family Support Coordinator with Network for Hope, where she supports families through the organ donation process. She is a graduate of American University in Washington, DC, and a former Fulbright English Teaching Assistant who taught in Borneo, Malaysia.
Emily has dedicated her career to serving displaced and vulnerable communities. She has worked with refugees across the United States through Catholic Charities and other social service agencies and earned a Master’s degree in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from DePaul University. She later interned with Jesuit Refugee Services in East Africa and spent five years with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services as an Asylum and Refugee Officer. During her federal service, Emily also served as a union steward and helped implement policies that promoted family unity and reduced processing delays.
Now rooted in Louisville’s Beechmont neighborhood, Emily serves on the board of the Beechmont Neighborhood Association and is a Louisville Democratic Party precinct leader. She is also active with Kentuckians for the Commonwealth and the League of Women Voters. In her free time, Emily volunteers as an Olmsted Parks steward and enjoys hanging out on the couch with her cat Kiki while watching Survivor.
