Read moreDaphne Brown is a born, raised, and educated Kentuckian. The landscape of her childhood was shaped as much by the 24-hour news cycle as by the trees and fields of her backyard safaris. Her worldview took form in a house where world events were discussed over supper like they were happening next door. Those kitchen table conversations instilled the belief that ordinary people have a responsibility to respond to hardship with action. That conviction followed her to Kentucky Wesleyan, where she studied Political Science, worked with the Legislative Research Commission, and attended the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
After witnessing the division of that year, Daphne shifted her ambitions toward direct service. She spent the next decade in refugee resettlement, first at Kentucky Refugee Ministries in Lexington and later as a National Resettlement Program Officer with Church World Service, supporting affiliates nationwide with program implementation, compliance, and the work of helping newcomers rebuild their lives.
She now leads Project Esperanza in Madisonville, coordinating newcomer support and community resources with a focus on dignity, practical problem solving, and neighbor to neighbor connection. Daphne hopes to bring rural experience, humanitarian grounding, and a steady belief in collective responsibility into future public leadership.
