Teaching in high poverty schools for most of her 10 years in JCPS, she was chosen to become one of the members of the first cohort of the JCPS Cards Program, a Rank 1 program combining teacher leadership with deeper dives into areas of diversity at the University of Louisville’s College of Arts and Sciences. She is a Region Two Director for the Jefferson County Teachers Association and serves on several JCTA committees, Better Schools Kentucky, and as a representative on the Greater Louisville Central Labor Council. At Fairdale, Cassie serves on the SBDM, co-sponsors the GSA, and volunteers with the marching band. She is a member of Broadway Baptist Church and sings in the choir there. Though her life is in Louisville now, her roots are in Marshall County where her family still lives, including her niece, Raylee, and a new niece or nephew coming summer 2020.
