Read moreAlison was born and raised in Louisville, where she grew up with her parents and younger brother. Her mother is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and her father is a Certified Public Accountant. Her family instilled in her a strong work ethic, a moral compass and inspired her to care about all the members of a community. As an alumnae of Assumption High School and the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, Alison developed an interest in government and taking action to make positive change. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Boston University, graduating cum laude in three years. After graduation, Alison spent ten years working as a television producer for both local and national news outlets. Her final years in journalism were spent in the field covering natural disasters and climate change for The Weather Channel. It was there that she immersed herself in learning about how our actions impact the health of our communities. She returned to Louisville in 2015 to become Director of Communications for Greater Louisville Inc. In 2018, she was named one of the “Forty Under 40” by Louisville Business First. Today, she is a part of the corporate communications department for a local Fortune 500 Company, leading a team focused on digital strategy and social media. She also serves on the board of the Kentucky Resources Council, an environmental advocacy organization Alison is married to local attorney and Veteran, Jacob Elder. They live in Crescent Hill with their two children and pets. In her free time, you can find Alison jogging the streets of Crescent Hill, gardening and spending time with her extended family.
