Read moreRita R. Thomas is a lifelong resident of Augusta, Kentucky and is a lifelong learner. She is currently a doctoral student in Morehead State University’s Educational Technology Program after recently earning her M.S. in Instructional Design from Western Kentucky University. Additionally, she received her M.Sc. in Slavery & Forced Labour Studies from the University of Edinburgh in Edinburgh Scotland and holds Bachelors of Art degrees from Northern Kentucky University in History/Social Studies & Secondary English Education.
Professionally, Rita is dedicated to service in higher education. She currently is the Coordinator of Academic Programs at Maysville Community and Technical College and also serves as an adjunct instructor of History. In addition to her service in the higher education field she is the founding Executive Director of the Ohio River National Freedom Corridor, a non-profit organization preserving and sharing the history of the Underground Railroad and is a past President of the Bracken County Historical Society.
Rita is passionate about education and giving back to the communities which have helped her to fulfill her education and career goals. As an active member of her community she relishes opportunities to advocate for support from government and other organizations which will ensure the availability of superior educational opportunities for the young people of the Bracken County and surrounding communities.
