Jennifer Adams-Tucker

Jennifer Kumari Adams Tucker lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband Darryl and their four children, Sydney, Darryl Jr., Danyelle, and Dominique. When Darryl and Jennifer were faced with the challenge of raising 3 Autistic children, they knew the road would not be easy, but through faith, love, and dedication, The Tuckers have found ways to embrace these challenges. Jennifer decided to write a book titled “Autistic Angels-The Story of a Mother to her Children,” which talks about The Tucker’s journey raising children with Autism and attempts to encourage other families with the same challenges. Since the publication of Autistic Angels, Jennifer, her husband Darryl, and her daughter Sydney have published the book “Up to Bat”, a children’s book also promoting Autism Awareness, but on a level children can understand. Up To Bat was inducted into the United States Library of Congress in 2014.

Jennifer has been employed at Humana Inc. for over 11 years and is currently a Home Health Program Manager on the Provider Payment Integrity Team.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Louisville, a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix, and a Masters of Science in Business Communication degree from Spalding University.

To promote Autism Awareness, Jennifer is involved with several state and city level boards and commissions.  She was appointed by Governor Steve Beshear to the State Advisory Board for Exceptional Children and the Kentucky Early Intervention System Interagency Coordinating Council in 2012.  She also served as the Chair of the Jefferson Community and Technical College Nominating Commission, and was appointed by Mayor Greg Fisher to the Louisville Metro Human Relations Commission Advocacy and Enforcement boards. Mayor Fisher has also placed Jennifer on the Healing Possible Quorum, or the “Mayor’s 100”, to define ways to fight racism and discrimination in our communities.  Jennifer serves as a member on the Board of Directors for the Families of Early Autism Treatment (F.E.A.T) and the Exceptional Teens and Adults (E.T.A) organizations, both dedicated to working with special needs families.  Jennifer is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. where she has served as Connection Committee Chair, Music Committee Co-Chair, and the Ivy Leaf Reporter. Jennifer is currently the Musician of the Youth Choirs at Community Missionary Baptist Church.

Jennifer has received the Business First Magazine Forty Under 40 Award (2014), The Salute To Women Entrepreneurs and Emergent Leaders Award, Woman of the Year Award from Community Missionary Baptist Church (2006), the Today’s Woman Magazine “Way To Go Woman” Award (2013), featured in Business First Magazine’s “People on the Move” profiles (2012), featured in Louisville.com for Advocating Autism Awareness (2012) and as a Louisvillian who makes Louisville a better place to live (2013).  She was chosen as the Inspirational Speaker at The University of Phoenix Graduation in 2009 and in 2016 received the “Partners In Healthcare People To Watch” Award from Business First Magazine for leadership in the Healthcare industry.

Perhaps Jennifer greatest accomplishment was her induction into the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame in September 2017.  Jennifer was chosen for induction for her work with the special needs community throughout the state of Kentucky.  The University of Louisville also named Jennifer “An Alumna making a difference” for her work throughout her community in the Spring 2018 edition of UofL Magazine. She was also elected to the University of Louisville’s African American Alumni Council in 2018.
