Cantrell’s dedication to working families defines both her law career and her work as a member of the Kentucky General Assembly. The south-end Louisville lawmaker’s work as a non-profit employment attorney focused on wage and benefits dispute resolution cases involving mainly low-income and vulnerable clients has made Rep. Cantrell a valuable resource on employment issues, including minimum wage and paid leave, in the Kentucky House. Her expertise in employment law has also extended to other legislation she has sponsored or worked on as a current member of the House Judiciary; Economic Development and Workforce Investment; Natural Resources and Energy and Elections, Constitutional Amendments and Intergovernmental Affairs committees. Attention to domestic violence and human trafficking issues are also a regular part of Rep. Cantrell’s legislative agenda, winning her the respect of affected victims and the communities that serve them. Louisville Business First honored Rep. Cantrell by including her among a list of the publication’s “Forty under 40” up-and-coming local leaders under the age of 40.
