Governor Andy Beshear appointed her to the Kentucky State Board of Cosmetology, where she serves as a board member representing private beauty schools in the state. She is also currently the vice chairwoman at the Kentucky State Board of Cosmetology. Her mission is to provide a pathway to nail licensure in Kentucky and contribute to the Kentucky workforce. In 2023, Lianna Nguyen was one of the pivotal leaders who helped pass Senate Bill 14 in 2024. This bill helped remove systemic barriers, made the pathway to licensure in Kentucky more efficient, and added more representation on the board by opening two seats: one for nail technicians and one for estheticians.
