Read moreMera Kathryn Corlett currently serves Jefferson County as Justice of the Peace; she was elected to the position in 2018. Mera Kathryn also works in educational theatre as an associate at Commonwealth Theatre Center where she oversees the company’s touring programs and teaches outreach in classrooms throughout the district. She has directed seven touring shows, many partnering with local community organizations such as Louisville Metro Police Department, Kentucky Foundation for Women, and Louisville Public Media. Mera Kathryn often writes new plays for the company that address relevant educational or social needs she observes in schools. This past fall, she premiered a musical adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin that reimagines the story’s protagonist as a business owner who rejects the king’s proposal because she has ambitions beyond marriage. Mera Kathryn holds a B.A. in theatre and theological studies from Hanover College. Upon graduation, she received the Long Citation for Excellence–the highest award a student can receive.
