Emerge Kentucky Alumnae Win Big on Election Night –
Flip Senate District 26 Held By Republicans for 30 Years and Increase Number of Diverse Women Serving in General Assembly
Louisville, KY — Emerge Kentucky candidates delivered big wins up and down the ballot Tuesday. Thirty-five Emerge candidates either won their race or solidified their top position heading into the November General Election. Of those one seat was flipped from red to blue in a historic special election race. Their victories underscore the successes of women candidates who won across Kentucky and nationwide and mark a major step forward for women’s representation in politics.
“Emerge Kentucky candidates were a dominant force in campaigns this cycle, and every one of our candidates ran smart, disciplined, well-executed campaigns,” said Susanna French, Board Chair Emerge Kentucky. “Thirty-five of thirty-nine Emerge candidates will head to the general election in November and we’re not done yet. We’ve got our eye on 2020, 2022 and beyond.”
