Smith best choice to lead Kentucky into future

One of the greatest moments of my life was the day that I registered to vote. I had just turned 17 and I felt those years of waiting melt away as I filled the forms out. Now, in 2018, I’m a sophomore in college and I’m counting down the days until I check the box next to Jeanie Smith’s name in November.

Jeanie believes that when families have good jobs and fair wages, affordable health care and housing and successful schools, they can thrive. She is absolutely right. These three things have been proven, time and time again, to be fundamental to a successful life in this country.

As a current student that is preparing to go into the workforce, good jobs and fair wages are are major concern. When considering the outrageous and constant increases in costs associated with getting a degree, the stagnant wages make it nearly impossible to pay off student loan debts while also living comfortably.

As a student that grew up in Kentucky public schools and as both a child and grandchild of educators, it is clear to me that Jeanie truly understands how crucial the education system is. There are few people that I believe could represent our students and teachers better than she can. Jeanie not only has kids in our public schools, but she has spent day in and day out advocating for and teaching young people across Warren County.

An investment in public education is an investment in our future, and state Sen. Mike Wilson has repeatedly failed to invest in the thousands of students, teachers and families in Kentucky.

A vote for Jeanie Smith is a vote for our families, our kids and for the future of our great commonwealth.
