After returning to Kentucky in 2013 they have worked in the bourbon industry and as a small time sheep farmer. Erin’s passion for social justice has led them to become a dedicated reproductive justice advocate, volunteering at the state’s only abortion clinic and transporting patients to their appointments. They also use their knowledge as an EMT to train clinic escort volunteers in emergency incident response and attend events as a medic and first aid provider. Erin’s experiences as a queer, trans, rural atheist have pushed them to seek to bring more visibility to the lives of marginalized people living in traditionally conservative areas. Inspired by groups like SisterSong, Southerners On New Ground, and Queer Appalachia, Erin strives to make people reevaluate their perception of rural areas.
